2013
Thanksgiving Dinner
As a yearlong tradition, the Oregon Alumni Association will be supporting the Thanksgiving dinner held by the Oregon Study Center, Germany, in Tübingen for all Oregon students in Baden-Württemberg.

 

2013
OAA Meeting of Members
The OAA will hold their yearly members’ meeting in the fall of 2013. There, recent developments and new ideas will be presented by the board as well as remembrances and reports of the past year(s) will be exchanged. Also, rotational elections took place and new board members were elected. All members are invited to participate or to ask an attending member to deputize regarding their vote. Please check back for details on place and time.

Welcome (Back) in Germany, First Reunion
The OAA will be organizing a Welcome-Back meeting for all returning German Oregon exchange students. All returning German Oregon exchange students are invited to their very first reunion meeting. Nostalgic photo sessions, settling back in, culture shock in Germany, networking and reconnecting will be on the place. Check back for details on place and time.

 

2013
Oregon Predeparture Orientation
As every year (despite not listed), the Oregon Alumni Association will be supporting the Oregon Study Center, Germany, in Tübingen and have explanations, impressions, help, tips, and experiences from past participants and personal stories and recommendations for the actual cohort of exchange students of Baden-Württemberg departing for Oregon in late summer. Also, the OAA will be introduced to new exchange students as their future Alumni Association.

Thanksgiving Dinner
As a yearlong tradition, the Oregon Alumni Association will be supporting the Thanksgiving dinner held by the Oregon Study Center, Germany, in Tübingen for all Oregon students in Baden-Württemberg.

 

June 6-7, 2012
Oregon Predeparture Orientation
As every year, the Oregon Alumni Association was supporting the Oregon Study Center, Germany, in Tübingen and has explanations, impressions, help, tips, and experiences from past participants and personal stories and recommendations for the actual cohort of exchange students of Baden-Württemberg departing for Oregon in late summer. Also, the OAA was presented at that meeting.

 

May 5, 2012
OAA Meeting of Members
The OAA held their yearly members’ meeting in 2012 on May 5, 2012. There, recent developments and new ideas were presented as well as remembrances and reports of the past year(s) were exchanged. Also, rotational elections took place and new board members were elected. All members were invited to participate or to ask an attending member to deputize regarding their vote. The OAA met from 10am to noon at the Restaurant-Bar Ludwig’s in Tübingen (Uhlandstrasse 2).

Welcome (Back) in Germany, First Reunion
The OAA organized a Welcome-Back meeting for all returning German Oregon exchange students. All returning German Oregon exchange students were invited to their very first reunion meeting at the Restaurant Stern in Tübingen. Due to low response, this meeting was cancelled on short notice.

Oregon Predeparture Orientation
As every year, the Oregon Alumni Association was supporting the Oregon Study Center, Germany, in Tübingen and assisted with explanations, impressions, tips, and experiences from past participants and personal stories and recommendations for the actual cohort of exchange students of Baden-Württemberg departing for Oregon in late summer at their predeparture meeting in Bad Herrenalb.

 

March 30,  2011
OAA meeting Portland Business Alliance

On March 30, 2011, the
Portland Business Alliance visted Germany for expanding their networks. The OAA board and interested Oregon Alumni were invited to a reception and dinner at the Arcotel Camino in Stuttgart to interconnect with a delegation of an announced 20 members of the Portland Business Alliance who are active in different industries located in Portland, Oregon. OAA Meeting of Members
From 2011, the OAA was encountering for its yearly meeting of members in the first half of the year. There, recent developments and new ideas were presented as well as remembrances and reports of the past year(s) were exchanged. Also, rotational elections took place and new board members were elected. The OAA and its members met at the Café Ranitzky, Am Markt, 72070 Tübingen on May 7, 2011 from 10AM-noon. All members were invited to participate or to ask an attending member to deputize regarding their vote.

 

November 27, 2010
Welcome (Back) in Germany, First Reunion
On November 27, 2010, the OAA organized a Welcome-Back meeting for all returning German Oregon exchange students. All returning German Oregon exchange students were invited to their very first reunion meeting. It took place at the Loretto Restaurant in Tübingen (Katharinenstraße 22). Approximately a third of the group used the option to (re)connect with old and new friends of the exchange year. Nostalgic photo sessions, settling back in, culture shock in Germany were settled over a pint! Also, actual exchange students from Oregon were invited and participating.

Transatlantic Service Learning Project Sponsoring
The OAA is proud to support the Transatlantic Service Learning Project ‘Young Migrants and Transition to Working Life’ between the Western Oregon University Monmouth, Oregon and the University of Education Ludwigsburg, Germany. The association supports this project financially to enable an Oregon delegation of students and instructors to stay in Munsingen, Germany in July, 2010. At the end of their visit, the delegation visited Tübingen and the OAA for a joint sight-seeing day at the geographical center of Baden-Württemberg. A boat trip on the river Neckar with a famous Stocherkahn was made. Find out more here.

Twenty Years Oregon Alumni Association Celebration
The Oregon Alumni Association is celebrating its 20th year of existence! On May 29th, we have celebrated this with a great get-together and the chance to reconnect and meet with old and new friends in a reception atmosphere. This meeting was open to ALL members of the OAA and friends of Oregon. Also, foreign studies BW university staff and all Oregon students who are in BW were invited. Find out more here.

 

February 2010
Cooperation with the German-American Institute Tübingen
The German-American Institute d.a.i. Tübingen, Germany is partnering with the OAA and cross referencing their services. The OAA is lucky to be introduced in the d.a.i.‘s new edition of the D-USA contacts brochure. Find out more at our Baden-Württemberg page.

 

February 2010
New Association Emblem
After a history of tapering vision, mission, and public relations of the Oregon Alumni Association e. V., the OAA finally has a new hallmark. The new association logo has been designed by our designer and public relation specialist Ulrike Kluge. It shows the silhouette of famous Mt. Hood behind a lake and forest trees. The tree’s shape might be recognized by insiders from Oregon license plates. All symbols are pictured within the distinct shape of the state of Oregon. Everything is kept in the characteristic greenish association colors introduced in 2009.

 

January 2010
Cooperation with getAbstract
The Oregon Alumni Association e. V. is now connected with getAbstract. On a designated website, valuable book summaries are provided and listed for exchange students and interested OAA members and friends. Check it out at our reports & resources page.

October 31, 2009
OAA Meeting of Members
On October 31, 2009, the OAA encountered for its yearly meeting of members. There, recent developments and new ideas will be presented as well as remembrances and reports of the last year(s) will be exchanged. Also yearly elections took place. The OAA met from 11am to 1pm at the Restaurant-Bar Ludwig’s in Tübingen (Uhlandstrasse 2). All participants were invited to join the Welcome-Back reception at night (see below).

Welcome (Back) in Germany
On Halloween, October 31st, the OAA organized a Welcome-Back meeting for all returning German Oregon exchange students at the Schlatterhaus in Tübingen (Österbergstraße 2). All returning German Oregon exchange students and all actual US Oregon students in BW were invited to their very first reunion meeting. This event was a great option to (re)connect with old and new friends of the exchange year. Nostalgic photo sessions, settling back in, culture shock in Germany? Let’s settle all this over a pint! (Open 6pm—11pm).
